Nest Shoot
Bill Hopper Jr. of Crossville won the singles championship
while Jim Ezelle of Lake Tansi took home the handicap trophy
at the Sportsman Club’s 5th Amateur Trapshooting
Association (ATA) event of the year on July 12
/2009 at the
club’s Shorty Barnes Road shooting complex.
Hopper, a Class A shooter, firing a Beretta 682 would tie
Crossville’s Mark Filley Jr. with near perfect 99X100’s, but
win the top award via a coin-toss in lieu of a shoot-off. Filley
would take the Class A runner-up award.
Gil Lokey took Class B with a 95. Elden Ice took Class C with
a superb 97 – the second best score this 83 year old Fairfield
Glade resident has ever posted.
Jim Ezelle, firing his SKB-85TTR showed that his handicap
win in last month’s ATA was no fluke by taking the top award
once again with an excellent 96X100 while shooting from the
20 yard line. Bill Lynn was runner-up in handicap with a 93.
The club’s last ATA shoot will be Nov 1. For more info contact
